Former mayor and mayoress restaurant adds spice to Maldon high street
Current town mayor Mr Ogg was joined at the official opening (August 1st) by mayoress Sharon Ogg, Maldon MP John Whittingdale, Maldon District Council chairman Mark Heard, Deputy mayor Andrew Lay and fellow former Mayor Richard Miller.
We had an evening meal here and the food was excellent. Most of the staff were excellent, one waiter going above and beyond, but the manager, who was also taking orders and bringing food, was fairly rude and unprofessional (giving unasked-for political views) and they overall seemed quite short staffed. This made the meal less than relaxing.
We've spent much time in India inhotels and with my indian friends family...and eaten in Indian restaurants all over Britain...and this is definitely upgjete with the best. Exceptional food. Beautiful decor and amazing staff.
Booked a day before for my sons 13th birthdayWas pleasantly surprised the staff had got him a 13 birthday balloon and card. Thank you!!The food was delicious and the staff friendly and attentive. Will be back. Restaurant was packed out when we left as we had an early sitting. for a Tuesday night that must be good.!
Just had an Indian. I can say it was very very nice. The lamb and chicken was very tender. It’s quite rare to get a nice lamb dish, but I can say this was very good. I can say probably one of the best in maldon if not the best.The reason for my 4 Start review,The portions are quite small bearing in mind the food is quite expensive, £50 for two people I would hope I would have a lot but sadly this is not the case; in particular the chicken tikka masala only had 5 chunks of chicken.I would say if you could make the sizes bigger this would be amazing!
What a nice little gem this place is. The restaurant was busy but staff were always on hand for any requestThe food was really delicious. Both dosas and accompanying sauces and lentils were wonderful.I was expecting to pay much more considering how stuffed we were. I would happily eat here again.
Best Indian restaurant we have been too. My husband loves Indian food. But I'm was not to keen. Well after visiting Maldon spice I'm converted. Can praise it enough, brilliant food. Great service, great atmosphere

WOW - This restaurants service, staff and menu is excellent.!! We have been here a few times. Now under new management since March 2021. The tacky ‘Elvis’ decor has long since gone and has been replaced by a lovely soft sage green. The new manager is very welcoming, helpful and comical and his staff are also very pleasant too. Overall I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this gem of an Indian restaurant (with its takeaway service too) to any lover of good quality spicy food.
lovely curry, i think finally cracked it as i have been looking for a decent curry house. best curry i have tasted round this area , will be back soon
Food is lovely and the service is great. The staff go out of their way to help. In response to one of the recent reviews - we are regular customers and we have never seen any behaviour that could be construed as bullying. We'll be back again very soon.
